Car crashes through wall of student flat

A North Dunedin student flat was gatecrashed last night by an 18-year-old driver who reversed through a wall.

Police were called to the university-owned Duke St property shortly before 8pm, Constable Louise Pearce said.

"There is more damage to the house than the car," she said.

No-one was hurt. The occupants of the flat were provided with temporary accommodation last night.

Attempts to remove the car would begin today.

The driver, who is not a student, is believed to be an occupant of a nearby flat.

The driver had not been drinking and it was too early to say if charges would be laid, she said.
