Dunedin deserves, as do those who took today as a "public
holiday", to suffer, cruelly, economic hardship if today's
light dusting of snow is enough of an excuse to put Public
Service offices, and even many medical and health care staff,
off work for the day.
I came to this country after working in Australia, England,
Scotland, the United States and Canada believing it had the
most charitable society of all of those.
Maybe I mistook it simply for a country whose people
(erroneously) believe in such a thing as a "free lunch" for
all.
Lunches don't come free, and at the end of the day, for what
free time you take you end up paying a VERY high price.
Charitable societies don't come for free either.
