A ‘Big Tick’- At what cost?
Political proponents of the Carbon Emissions Trading ‘scheme’
claim that New Zealand’s credibility with our overseas
trading partners is at stake. Given that North America
(world's No 1 economy) and China (world's projected No2;
within ten years) have not signed up for the Kyoto protocols,
with which trading partners in particular; are we vying for
this costly approval.
What price are Kiwis prepared to pay for this ‘Big
Tick’?
Clever local and central government politicians have proposed
waterfront stadiums. Aren’t they afraid that these edifices
will become fantastic aquatic water features in the deluge
caused by our melting polar ice-caps? Do they really believe
their own press?
Is it possible that the carbon emissions trading scheme is a
conspiracy by wealthy global traders to create money form
thin air (or the CO2 component within it) At the expense of
the masses who are being lead down the path of an
“Inconvenient (or Improbable) Truth”?
Not one single dollar dedicated to the Carbon Emission
Trading scheme will be used to benefit New Zealand’s
beautiful environment that we Kiwis love with a passion.
Instead Kiwi dollars will be given to countries that are
‘supposedly’ doing a good job on the world carbon scene. None
of this money will be used to actively enhance our
environment.
The scheme is, in fact, Socialism at its very worst.
While I do not disagree that our planet has warmed up, it is
likely that the climate change lobbyists will be able to
claim a resounding victory as the earth’s temperature cools,
succumbing to a long term cyclic change- with or without any
intervention by human kind.
I highly suspect that the world’s ‘delicate’ eco-system is
far hardier than any of us thought possible.
Anyone who has travelled overseas will clearly see through a
‘smoggy haze’ that New Zealand’s contribution to polluting
gases is but a ‘sparrows fart’ on the world stage, with the
exception of some rather malodorous ones emanating from our
Bee Hive.
My suggestion to our enlightened politicians is that they
take the many millions of Kiwi tax- payer’s hard earnt money
and put it in a big furnace- as they warm their hands it is
at least possible, that they may illuminate their minds in
the after glow.
