Sports overkill

As a longtime Otago Daily Times subscriber I was disappointed by the sheer number of sports stories in Saturday's print edition.

The entire front page was taken over by sports. Sure, the professional rugby test was news but, in my opinion, it did not warrant the amount of coverage it was given.
There were a lot more news-worthy events happening in Dunedin, Otago, New Zealand and the world than a rugby test.
Please keep sport where it belongs, on the back pages.

How a newspaper can be as pro-sport as the ODT appears to be, and preserve detachment and objectivity when it comes to reporting matters pertaining to the same activities, I cannot imagine. [abridged]
