We built this huge covered stadium for the rugby world cup.

This cost the city of Dunedin millions.

The ratepayers of Dunedin will be paying for it for years to come. Yet we have turned down a bid for the Fifa World tournament.

Why don't those who prefer to watch soccer have the chance to enjoy games at the stadium as well?

Money didn't seem to be an issued with the rugby.....

Shanteze observes, "Money didn't seem to be an issue with the rugby....."  How very true, unfortunately.  No expense - no ratepayer - spared to "make it work" and make it in time with whatever rugby needed, oops, wanted.  Tough luck other sports, other cultural activities, even timely upgrading of aging infrastructure.
