Should the stadium go ahead then there will be employment for
construction, service and transport workers. Presumably these
workers would be resident in the Dunedin area thus
contributing to the overall rates payments for at least the
period of construction. They would also be purchasing
supplies within the local area for consumption in the process
supporting local businesses.
For that reason although I cannot see the Stadium becoming
financially self-sustaining I perceive that it will be
constructed and that rates withholding is a self defeating
ploy that will impact principally on the people proposing
