OFFICER OF THE NEW ZEALAND ORDER OF MERIT (ONZM)
University of Otago staff member Prof Bridget Robinson has been honoured for her services to medicine.
A cancer specialist at the university's Christchurch School of Medicine for more than 20 years, Prof Robinson is also a consultant with the Canterbury District Health Board.
Her particular areas of interest are Hodgkin's disease, soft-tissue tumours, breast cancer and other forms of cancer.
Prof Robinson has provided expert advice to many organisations and individuals, including the Health and Disability Commissioner, and is a member of several medical organisations including the Child Cancer Foundation professional health subcommittee, the Health Research Council of New Zealand, the Medicines Assessment Advisory Committee, the New Zealand Children's Cancer Study Group and the New Zealand Society of Oncology.
She is also a former member of the editorial board of the New Zealand Medical Journal.
