The financially troubled production company behind biblical
movie Kingdom Come has won another reprieve from liquidation.
Wellington High Court Associate Judge Hannah Sargisson
further adjourned the liquidation proceedings against South
Vineyard production company until July to review progress on
raising money to pay creditors, The Dominion Post reported.
The production company's lawyer, Stephen Brown, told the
court the Christian community, mainly in the United States,
was soliciting donations towards the more than $4.5 million
owed on the project.
If $1 million was raised, creditors would allow the
production company to postpone the film for another year.
The film, about the life of Jesus, was to have been filmed in
New Zealand, including at Lake Benmore and Duntroon.
Mr Brown said $38 million had been invested in the project by
a small group of people.
Granting the adjournment, Judge Sargisson said a proper
update was needed to satisfy the plaintiff and the court that
progress was being made.
