Plans for mini-golf course, cafe

A mini-golf course and new cafe will be established at Coal Creek, near Roxburgh, if a resource consent application is successful.

Richard and Kerry Groters operate the Packhouse Fruit Stall on State Highway 8 and have sought consent to establish a cafe and mini-golf course, to operate from 9am to 7pm, for six months of the year.

The Central Otago District Council's hearings panel considered the application this week and has reserved its decision.

The applicants said many of their customers would be families who were looking for places to stop atwhich provided refreshment and entertainment.

The design of the mini-golf course would be in keeping with its Central Otago surroundings, and landscaping would screen it from the view of motorists on the highway.

Council planning consultant David Whitney has recommended the council grant consent, subject to several conditions.
