Naked man on track 'unacceptable'

Police are asking the public for help in identifying a naked man seen walking the Outlet Track near Albert Town yesterday.

Constable Mike Thomas said police received two reports yesterday afternoon of a man described as being ‘‘in his late 40s, wearing a hat and a small backpack and shoes'' who was walking along the popular riverside track.

Police had also received a report on December 23 of a male fitting the same description on the Mt Iron walking track.

‘‘Police are concerned that it's a public walking track and there's quite a few families and kids using that walking track at this time of year, and it's unacceptable behaviour.''

Meanwhile, police are continuing their inquiries following an incident about 7.30pm on Tuesday involving three intoxicated males from Gore doing burnouts in a vehicle at Wanaka's Lake Outlet Holiday Park.

Const Thomas said the driver fled the scene while a breath test was being carried out and had yet to be located. The two passengers were arrested in relation to the offending vehicle, which was subsequently impounded.

The three men, all in their 20s, have been issued trespass notices from the camping ground.
