Alcohol-fuelled incidents frustrate police

Cromwell police are frustrated at the number of alcohol-related incidents they have been attending.

"Again, we've had a busy weekend dealing with alcohol-fuelled offending. Yes, it's the nature of the job, but it's incredibly frustrating to deal with the aftermath of alcohol-related harm and to see the impact it has on families and friends," Sergeant Simon Paget said.

In addition to an incident at the Golden Gate Lodge on Saturday morning which resulted in one man receiving 10 stitches to his head, police attended two others.

About 2.30am on Sunday, ambulance officers required police backup after they were hindered, by "grossly intoxicated family members", in their efforts to help an elderly woman who had collapsed.

About half an hour later, police were called to a domestic incident between an intoxicated man and woman.
