A 19-year-old Alexandra man was in a critical condition in
Dunedin Hospital yesterday after he was found by friends
lying beside his motocross bike in the Pines, near
Alexandra's Boundary Rd, on Sunday evening.
Central Otago sub area commander Senior Sergeant Ian Kerrisk
said the man sustained serious head injuries and early
indications were that he had not been wearing a helmet when
he apparently crashed.
It appeared alcohol was involved.
The man left a friend's house on Pine Rd about 8.30pm on
Sunday and his friends went to find him when they heard the
bike's motor stop suddenly.
They found him beside his bike.
The man was airlifted from Dunstan Hospital in Clyde to
Dunedin Hospital, where he was in the intensive care unit
yesterday.
