Tarras farmer Jonny Trevathan has exited the Masterchef
stage.
A burnt pork-chop has scuppered the Masterchef hopes of
Tarras farmer Jonny Trevathan whose rustic charm made him an
instant star.
After last week's show when his hungover performance and
description of chicken as "a vegetable" cast him as the
character of this season's contestants, all eyes were on the
bushy-bearded country boy tonight.
But Mr Trevathan struggled with his "mystery box" of
ingredients and copped a withering blast from judge Simon
Gault for his grilled pork chop and salad.
"One of the worst things I've seen on Masterchef, it's crap,"
Gault said.
Mr Trevathan, who said after presenting his dish he was "80%
confident I'm out of here", was shortly afterwards told to
pack his bags.
Otago's hopes in the hit show remain alive though in the form
of Oamaru man Michael Gin who scraped through to the next
round.
