The driver of a Mitsubishi Chariot (right) received cuts and abrasions to an arm when his car collided with a Toyota van about 8km south of the Lindis Pass summit about 2pm yesterday.

Sergeant Bruce Martin, of Alexandra, said it appeared the van, containing two New Zealand men, crossed on to the wrong side of the road on a bend, hitting the Chariot despite its driver, also a New Zealand resident, pulling well over.

A passenger in the Chariot had minor seatbelt injuries.

The driver of a camper van also received a ticket for failing to get out of the way of a fire engine heading to the crash.
