47 babies latch on

A total of 47 mothers and 47 babies in the Central Otago and Queenstown Lakes district joined yesterday's ''Big Latch On'' to mark the start of World Breast-feeding Week.

The Southern District Health Board's Public Health South organisation provided ''goodie bags'' and resource kits for new mothers who attended.

While the mass latch-on was due to happen at 10.30am, there was no holding back Deva Jacobsen's 4-and-a-half-month-old daughter Fern, who got off to an early start at Cinema Paradiso.
