Junior market at Cromwell

Budding young market gardeners and bakers are invited to have stalls at the Cromwell Farmers Market next month.

On November 23, junior stallholders can sell ''anything they liked so long as they have made it themselves and it fitted the farmers market general criteria'', market manager Jenna Jenkinson said.

''It might be plants they have potted up themselves or baking or sweets they have made.''

The idea came up when the organising committee was exploring different themes for the market to adopt, she said.

Interest had already been shown and space was limited, so anyone considering a stall was asked to email an application to cofmmanager@gmail.com, outlining what they intended to sell, where it was made and their age.

The market will open tomorrow and runs weekly throughout summer from 9am to 1pm. It is based in Old Cromwell.

A celebration of all things French and a strawberry fair are among the other themed markets planned during the season.
