Tickets on sale

Organisers of the Waikeri Fest music event say rumours tickets have sold out are not true.

Dylan Rasburn, one of the organisers, said word on the street in Alexandra suggested tickets were no longer available, which was not the case.

Only early-bird tickets for the event, expected to attract about 500 people, were no longer for sale, but regular tickets were still available.

Tickets were on sale from businesses in Alexandra, Queenstown, and Dunedin, as well as from the festival's website, which provided information about ticket sales.

The event, to be held in the Waikerikeri Valley on January 16, 17, and 18 next year will feature more than 40 New Zealand bands, and provides an opportunity to camp in the valley.

Food and beverage providers will be on site during the festivalOrganisers are to hold three ''taster'' music events in Dunedin in December and January in order to promote it.

Although it is a family event, minors are required to be accompanied by a parent or caregiver on admission.
