Teen named after sudden Cromwell death

Police have released the name of a 17-year-old girl who died suddenly in Cromwell yesterday.

Rachel Elizabeth Clark is believed to have died as a result of a medical event.

Emergency services were contacted at 5.25pm yesterday, St John South Island communications advisor Ian Henderson said.

''It seems to have been a medical event and she was unfortunately deceased at the scene,'' Mr Henderson said.

Detective Sergeant Brian Cameron said following the results of a port-mortem today it was not considered to be a matter for the police, and they had referred it to the coroner.
