Soup anyone? Orchard worker Ashlyn Reid sits on an Atlantic Giant pumpkin, grown by Darryl Peirce to be displayed at his roadside stall at Millers Flat.

It has been a bumper season for the crop and the giant pumpkins are stopping motorists in their tracks.

Mr Peirce, owner of Peirce Orchard (The Pumpkin Place), said a ''number of cameras were coming out of cars'' to snap the giant pumpkins, on display near the roadside stall.

The pumpkin Ashlyn Reid was sitting on was one of the largest grown at the orchard, he said.

The season had been better than normal for Atlantic Giant pumpkins because of ''a lot of heat and rain''- ideal conditions for pumpkins.

Mr Peirce is a second-generation farmer at the family-run pumpkin farm.

While the Atlantic Giants are for display only, the stall sells several varieties of pumpkin including miniature gourds and the humble grey pumpkin.
