Eight teams took part in the fifth running of the annual event, with Kyeburn-Danseys Pass taking a good lead over its nearest rival, Wedderburn.
''It's all about having some fun and getting the community together,'' was how event spokeswoman Denise Baddock summed up the afternoon of Top Town-style activities.
Competitors had to complete a wide variety of activities, from hitting tennis balls into containers of water through to using a rope to haul a kayaker backwards and forwards along an irrigation race between two bridges.
A musical interlude was a new addition to this year's Maniototo Cup. Teams had to write and perform a team song based on their area.
Singing and musical skills varied widely and some opted for poetry or ballad-style delivery, while others gave fresh localised lyrics to favourite tunes.
Mrs Baddock said it was a shame the usual ''fantastic weather'' had deserted the contest this year but competitors and the dozens of spectators who turned up were unfazed by the overcast day.
A team relay rounded off the afternoon's festivities.
Patearoa hosted this year's event and it will be the turn of Kyeburn-Danseys Pass next year. Ranfurly, Naseby, Gimmerburn, Waipiata-Kokonga and Oturehua also fielded teams.
