Approval for 82 sections

Pisa Moorings will get a new 82-section subdivision, which could help ease the shortage of residential building sites in the Cromwell area.

This week the Central Otago District Council made public a decision to approve Pisa Moorings Vineyard Ltd's application to create 86 allotments on a 16ha site it owns on State Highway 6 and Pisa Moorings Rd.

Eighty-two of the lots would be used for residential activity, two would be made into council reserves, one into a road and one would remain as a vineyard.

The decision report said the subdivision's effects on open space, landscape, natural character and amenity values would be no greater than minor and the proposal was not contrary to the objectives and policies of the district plan.

The consent was approved with 44 conditions, which include requirements regarding road upgrades, water supply, wastewater, electricity and telecommunications and fencing around reserves.

The landowners were also required to keep the minimum floor level of buildings on one of the lots 203m above sea level because it was deemed to be flood prone.

A letter on behalf of the applicants before the consent hearing on May 10 said they agreed with all of the conditions. They previously had consent to subdivide the area into 36 allotments, but that has now lapsed.
