Both men served in the Western desert, Italy and Japan during World War 2.
They joined the Palmerston RSA on their return.
Mr Gunn was twice president of the branch, from 1968 and also in 1980-81.
Mr Collins had helped a local builder with interior rebuilding of the RSA clubrooms.
More than 60 people attended the ceremony at the Palmerston RSA.
