Waimate Policy reviewed

The Waimate District Council has reviewed its credit-card policy.

In a report to the council's meeting on Tuesday, chief executive Tony Alden said credit-card use had come under increasing scrutiny.

While he was not aware of any instances where credit cards had been used improperly, "it is best that we look at minimising the opportunity for any errors to occur in this area".

Mr Alden and Waimate Mayor John Coles decided they did not need to retain council credit cards.

In instances where they now used their credit card for business purposes, in future they would lodge a claim for reimbursement, providing the appropriate documentation.

It was proposed the council have only one credit card.
