Work on the refurbishment of the stone wall along Marine
Pde, at Oamaru Harbour, will be completed this week.
Local craftsmen Dugal Armour and Allan Ward began work on the
wall nine weeks ago as part of a redevelopment of the harbour
area.
Built in the 1930s, the wall was the last tangible connection
with the promenade and Friendly Bay.
The pair had to maintain the integrity of the wall while also
using their own style, Mr Armour said.
The light-stands, which may have been installed later, gave
line and rhythm to the walkway along the parade, he said.
