Cavalcade trail runs filling up fast

Two trails are already full for the Otago Goldfields Heritage Trust's cavalcade, which is finishing in Oamaru next year.

The light wagon trail, which leaves from Hyde with trail boss Chris Bayne, and Sandra Cain's walking trail from Glencoe Run were both full, while there were still vacancies on the other nine trails, cavalcade co-ordinator Terry Davis said yesterday.

The cavalcade will finish on March 5, with hundreds of riders, wagoners and walkers converging on the Oamaru racecourse, having started out from various parts of South Canterbury and Otago.

Tickets for the hoe-down at night were proving particularly popular.

"I think the word is out among the cavalcaders that Oamaru is going to put on a good show for us," Mr Davis said.

This will be the 19th cavalcade.
