Oturehua triallist Glen Tomlinson and his dog Tune finished second in the NewZealand zigzag hunt final at the North Island and New Zealand sheep dog trial championships at Masterton yesterday.
The event was won by GuyPeacock and Frank, of Taihape, with Tony Fairweather and Reign, of Napier, third.
The New Zealand straight hunt title was won by Dan Murphy and Quest, of Stratford, with Gary McDonald and Beth, of Havelock North, second, and Murray Kennedy and Stream, of Wyndham, third.
Brian Sparrow and Percy, also of Wyndham, were fifth.
The long head North Island championship was won by Kenny Whittaker and Doc, of Okaihau, with Graham Wellington and Banjo, of Rotorua, second, and Bob Bruce and Trump, of Otane, third.
Brian Dickson and Nike, of Gore, were fourth.
Russell Peek and Jim, ofPalmerston, remain on the leaderboard in the short head and yard.
