The Americans are coming to town

Barry Sinclair readies his 1972 Dodge Coronet for the Oamerican Car show, which began on Thursday evening.

The four-day event, which will include a ''show and shine'' at the North Otago A&P showgrounds in Oamaru today, began with a tour around Oamaru and the surrounding countryside.

Last year was the first time the event had been held in the town. Organiser Jayne Jackson said more than 40 American-made cars were expected to take part this year.
