Police are investigating the sudden death of a 35-year-old man in Elderslie, about 10km inland from Oamaru.
Emergency services were called to the rural address about 4.30am today when the man was found dead inside the house.
The address has been cordoned off and the scene is being examined.
Police are unable at this stage to say whether the man's death is suspicious.
