After more than three decades of helping out in the community, a Kurow charity has folded.

Due to a steadily declining membership, the Kurow Euchre Group has ceased to exist, and although group treasurer David Hodgson said it was a shame to see the end, over the past 30 years the group had made donations to a host of community groups in the town.

Mr Hodgson said the Kurow Hotel provided a venue for card games to take place free of charge, but now it just could not attract new members.

''We finally got to three members after five years of steadily declining. We held on, but we finally ran out of members; either passing away or moving on.

''In the last five years, we have provided the community with some donations at the end of the year, which has been very good, but sadly we have just run out of members.''

The group, which at times had 20 members, had helped to fund St John and the Volunteer Fire Brigade, as well as the Kurow museum in recent years.
