Adults brawl by school

A fight between two adults outside an Oamaru school as pupils were leaving in the afternoon has drawn condemnation from Senior Sergeant Jason McCoy, of Oamaru.

‘‘I'm very disappointed and upset that adults, who are supposed to be role models for children, show such examples of aggression outside a school in front of them,'' he said.

About 3.15pm on Tuesday, police were called to outside the Oamaru North School, where two men were fighting. Most of the pupils had already left the school.

The men were part of extended families of pupils at the school.

A 49-year-old Oamaru man was arrested and charged with disorderly behaviour, as the instigator of the incident with a 42-year-old man.
