For the past three months, Argentinians Gonzalo Angella and Diego Biro have been focused on playing Citizen's Shield Club Rugby in North Otago.

But come Monday morning, all of the pair's attention will be focused on Argentina's Fifa World Cup final match date with the German team.

''They are very happy in Argentina, this is the one moment that all the people feel the same,'' Angella said.

They have every faith in their country's team's ability to take out the Fifa World Cup final game on Monday morning.

''Germany are playing good, but they are single players - we think there is every possibility for us to win, always,'' he said.

''If we win, we will go to the centre of town to celebrate. We will be free.''

In a ''perfect world'', they said, their North Otago club, Athletic Marist, would win the Citizen's Shield final and Argentina would take possession of the World Cup.

Angella and Biro hope to gather with Argentinian expat Dino Lascaler and some of their rugby teammates at the Athletic Marist club rooms to watch the final.

World Cup fever has also hit the Waitaki Aquatic Centre, in Oamaru, and it is offering free swimming passes to anyone from Germany and Argentina, with identification, this weekend.
