Seeking residents' opinions

Four hundred Waitaki residents will be randomly selected and asked for their views on a range of Waitaki District Council activities over the past year, as part of the annual residents survey.

The survey, conducted by Pulse Business Solutions, an Oamaru-based company, will help gauge levels of satisfaction with council services.

Waitaki Mayor Gary Kircher said he encouraged the selected residents to make their views known so the council had a good understanding of important issues for residents.

''This is just one of the many tools council can use to understand where our strengths lie and where there are issues, including what improvements we can make to best meet the needs of our community,'' Mr Kircher said.

''The new council is very focused on ensuring we play our part in the Waitaki district, particularly from economic and social points of view.''

Residents will be contacted on weekday evenings and during weekends with calls ending at the beginning of August.

Survey results will be compiled by Pulse and published on the council's website (www.waitaki.govt.nz) in September.
