Detective Sergeant Dylan Murray, of Timaru, said the offender entered the Hilton Highway store, presented a firearm to the shop assistant and demanded money from the till at about 8.50pm, on Sunday.

The offender left with a small amount of cash and cigarettes.

The offender has been described as a European male with a deep voice; wearing a dirty white, black spotted bandanna over his face and head, light coloured baggy pants, a short-sleeved black T-shirt over a light-coloured long-sleeved hoody and black boots.

Anyone with information should contact Det Sgt Murray on (03) 971-5198 or via Crimestoppers 0800 555-111.
