Pay in report

Seven Waitaki District Council employees are paid more than $120,000 a year, including chief executive Michael Ross, who got $250,666 in the 2013-14 financial year, about $4000 more than the previous period.

Details of remuneration paid to staff are in the council's draft 2013-14 annual report, which will go to the finance and audit committee meeting on Wednesday.

In additional to his position as chief executive, Mr Ross received a director fee of $12,000 as council appointee to the North Otago Irrigation Company.

He is also a director appointed to the Waitaki Development Board Ltd, but was not paid a fee.

Seven staff are listed in the $120,000 to $269,999 salary band (five in 2012-13).

Six staff were in the $100,000 to $119,000 salary band (five in 2012-13), 15 (18) in the $80,000 to $99,999 band and 25 (20) in the $60,000 to $79,000 bracket.

There were 132 employees (including part-timers) on $60,000 or less, compared with 114 in 2012-13.

At the end of the 2013-14 financial year, the council had 121 fulltime equivalent staff, compared with 115.7 at the end of the previous financial year.
