Shooting contests

About 90 international and national shooters will contest the 2014 New Zealand and South Island Compak Championships at Enfield next week.

Hosted by the South Island Sporting Clay Shooters, the events, spread over four days, are being held at Phil Brown's farm in Burnside Rd.

The New Zealand Championships will be held on November 28 and 29, after the Target Products Compak Trophy and South Island Championships on November 26 and 27 respectively.

South Island Sporting Clays secretary Ron Madden said Compak Sporting, a discipline of sporting clays, used a variety of targets shot from five stands, with six traps springing targets.

The NZ championship has attracted entries from shooters around the country, as well as 14 Australian and two French shooters.
