'Great talent' for Oamaru festival

The Oamaru Wine and Food Festival at the Public Gardens on February 15 is expected to feature 30 to 40 stalls showcasing the region's wine, food and beer.

Festival co-ordinator Matt Haywood said ticket prices had been lowered for the 2015 event, with pre-sale tickets $10.

The cost on the day is $15. Lyttelton band The Eastern will headline the festival and the local music line-up features acoustic duo Sombrero Tuesdays, the Bella Cadets, Rock Bottom and Johnny and the Cashtones.

''I think we've got great talent here; it's as good as anywhere in the country,'' entertainment co-ordinator Mark Renalson said.

The focus for the past two festivals has been to take it back to its roots with an emphasis on food, wine and local entertainment and 2015 would be no different, Mr Haywood said.

''Bring your family and friends, sit down with a picnic rug, relax with some wine and food and listen to some great music,'' he said.

Dixon Homes has remained the major sponsor of the event, and for the 2015 festival funding has been secured from the Lion Foundation and the Otago Community Trust.
