Police today named the woman killed in a fiery car crash on State Highway 1 near Hampden on Friday.
She was Ema Louise McGeown, aged 27 years, of Oamaru.
Just before midnight on Thursday, her Mitsubishi RVR left the road on a moderate bend, went over a culvert, through a fence and into a paddock, catching fire.
Police said on Friday she was driving north from the Palmerston area and no other vehicle was involved in the crash.
The accident happened on the same bend where a woman received minor injuries after her northbound car went into the ditch and hit a power pole in October 2008.
