Police are investigating a spate of plant thefts from gardens in Oamaru's North End.
Sergeant Tony Woodbridge, of Oamaru, said police had received three reports of plants being taken from gardens in the Taward St and Balmoral St area.
''Somebody has been pulling plants out of people's gardens,'' Sgt Woodbridge said.
''Some elderly people are getting quite annoyed. They take quite a bit of pride in their gardens.''
Police are following lines of inquiry, but anyone with information is asked to contact Senior Constable Peter Scott, at the Oamaru Police Station, on (03) 433 1400.
