Police in Waimate and Oamaru are hunting for Oamaru man Logan Nicholas Quinn.
On Tuesday the armed offenders squad helped Waimate police execute a search warrant at a High St, Waimate address where they believed the 22-year-old was living.
Sergeant Mike van der Heyden, of Waimate, said Quinn was not found but police recovered a chainsaw allegedly stolen from an Oamaru property.
Quinn was believed to be unlawfully in possession of a firearm. Sgt van der Heyden said there were two arrest warrants out for Quinn.
Police have advised caution if the public see Quinn, warning people not to approach him but to call police instead.
