Omarama hosting pilots

Plenty of men and women and their magnificent flying machines will descend on the Omarama Airfield this weekend.

The airfield is hosting the annual Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association midwinter fly-in.

Glide Omarama general manager Guy Sanders expects about 45 aircraft and more than 100 people from around the country to congregate for a weekend of flying and fun.

The aircraft are GA (general aviation) classification, from microlights to Cessna 206s.

The fly-in had been scheduled to be held last weekend, but was delayed because of the weather.
