Police are investigating two cases in Otago where children
were allegedly bitten by dogs.
In Oamaru, a child was reportedly bitten outside Oamaru New
World on Wansbeck St on Wednesday night.
A police spokeswoman said one of two dogs tied up outside the
supermarket bit the 9-year-old about 6.15pm. No-one had seen
the attack, but both dogs were impounded as a precaution.
Oamaru police are seeking information on the incident.
• At Kaka Point, a 4-year-old boy was bitten by a dog on
Thursday.
Acting Sergeant Craig Dinnissen, of Balclutha, said the child
was bitten about 2.20pm and was taken to Dunedin Hospital for
treatment.
The boy's condition was not known yesterday.
Three dogs were impounded by Clutha District Council staff
while police investigate.
