Monty Wright has been reappointed Otago Fish and Game Council chairman and Dave Witherow remains the council's representative on the New Zealand Fish and Game Council.
Mr Wright, a former field officer for Otago Fish and Game, was reappointed chairman for a further annual term at the council's latest meeting, held in Dunedin on Saturday.
The council also heard that, by convention, the council's national representative served a three-year term, and Mr Witherow's current term ends about November.
There has been a somewhat stormy relationship between the Otago council and the national body, with some Otago dissatisfaction over national advocacy.
At the latest Otago meeting it was suggested in discussion that a change of representative could be needed to enable a more constructive relationship to be developed with the national body, and to achieve more positive engagement and progress.
Mr Witherow said changing representation at this stage would be a bad and counterproductive idea and was based on "erroneous" analysis.
In fact, some progress was being achieved in addressing Otago council concerns, and he noted there had been a change in the chairmanship of the national body.
Otago council members voted by a large majority for Mr Witherow to continue his national duties.
