Motorists are being urged to take extra care as strong winds batter some areas of the South.
The New Zealand Transport Agency has issued strong wind warnings for State Highway 1 between Dunedin and Palmerston; State Highway 85 between Palmerston and Kyeburn; and State Highway 87 between Kyeburn and Mosgiel.
The wind could pose a hazard for motorists, particularly those on motorcycles and in high-sided vehicles, the agency said.
