Nearly 1200 cans were swapped for movie tickets in Otago and Southland during the Wattie's Cans Film Festival earlier this month.
In Otago, 608 cans were swapped and in Southland, 585.
Across New Zealand, 19,611 cans were swapped and Wattie's matched the donation, resulting in 39,222 cans being given to Salvation Army food banks.
