Teen found safe after armed callout

A 15-year-old who ran away from her Timaru home has been found safe after armed officers were called to a Waimate house, police said.

Sergeant Mike Van Der Heyden, of Canterbury, said the girl's parents contacted police about 7am today with concerns for her welfare after she phoned asking to be picked up and taken home.

"When her parents visited the address they were confronted by two men, one of which was holding what appeared to be a pistol."

Sgt Van Der Heyden said members of the AOS and local police went to the High St property and found the girl outside.

"She was uninjured and has been returned safely to her family."

Four men located at the address are being spoken by police to in relation to possession of replica firearms, drugs and an air rifle.

No arrests have been made at this time.
