Jonah Lewis.
Four Clutha young people's dreams are one step closer to
becoming a reality after funding was awarded by the Clutha
District Youth Council this week.
Tapanui teenager Jonah Lewis was granted $1000 towards
participation in the Kotuku National Choir.
Young people from throughout New Zealand are selected to
develop their musical abilities and leadership potential.
The 14-year-old will attend three training camps in
Wellington at the end of this year before the choir tours New
Zealand and the United States.
Three other young people were also granted funding.
Rebekah Stoop (21), of Balclutha, received $400 towards a
trip to Thailand to participate in an International Student
Volunteers programme to work with underprivileged children.
Brayden Wilson (15), of Kakapuaka, was granted $400 towards a
trip to Australia to represent the New Zealand under-15 mixed
touch team at a tournament in Sydney in October; and Scott
Mathieson (16), of Milton, received $200 towards an Outward
Bound course in December.
