Work on bridge

The New Zealand Transport Agency is warning road users to expect delays while repair work is carried out on the Balclutha bridge next week.

From 6pm on Wednesday until 6am on Thursday the bridge will be reduced to one lane while this work is done.

Ian Duncan, of the New Zealand Transport Agency, said repairs would be made to the left-hand side guardrail, which had minor damage.

Although the work was being carried out at night to reduce the impact on bridge users, delays were still possible, alhthough every effort would be made to keep these to a minimum, Mr Duncan said.

Mobile signs will put in place on either side of the bridge to advise motorists of the work in advance.

A help line, 0800 805-263, has been set up to handle any queries about the work.
