Three young Clutha women were awarded health scholarships
this week.
At the annual meeting of Clutha Health Inc on Wednesday
night, Ashleigh White, of Tapanui, Georgia Scott, of
Balclutha, and Amelia Shaw, of Clutha Valley, were awarded
the 2013 Clutha District Health Scholarships.
Each recipient will receive $1000 per year of study, up to
$5000.
Miss White will study health sciences at the University of
Otago with the intention of becoming a physiotherapist, Miss
Shaw will also study health sciences at the University of
Otago, and Miss Scott will study nursing at Otago
Polytechnic.
Jenaya Smith, of Clutha Health Inc, said the calibre of the
19 applicants for the scholarships was high. Clutha Health
First initiated the scholarships in 2008 to encourage young
Clutha people to consider careers in the health sector.
