Searchers have discovered a body in the Clutha River this
morning, believed to be that of missing teenager Blake
Senior Sergeant Richard Whitmore, of Balclutha, said the
search for Mr Sinclair continued today, and involved 100
Mr Sinclair (18), of Clutha Valley, fell into the Clutha
River while kneeboarding behind a boat last Saturday.
Snr Sgt Whitmore said previous searches this week had been
difficult due to high river levels which were reduced today
by Contact Energy.
A body was found at about 9.30am by searchers and was
believed to be that of Blake Sinclair, he said.
The body was found in willows on an island above the
Balclutha bridge about 14km from where Mr Sinclair was last
Police said the identity of the body has yet to be confirmed
pending forensic examination.
Mr Sinclair's family have been overwhelmed by the search
effort and support from Clydevale residents and the wider
South Otago community.
The case will be referred to the coroner.
