Some 79 jobs will be lost in the South Island with the closure of the Rosebank sawmill in Balclutha and cuts at its other South Island operations.
Receivers were appointed to failed wood processor Southern Cross Forest Products in March.
KordaMentha's Brendon Gibson today announced plans to shut the company's Rosebank mill after a fire at its Mosgiel remanufacturing site cut its drying capacity, reducing the volume of timber it can process, and also decided to wind down its unprofitable Australian distribution business.
Today's restructuring will result in 79 jobs lost at South Island sites.
